When hanging up a trio or collection of pictures of varying heights do not try to line up the frames from the bottom or the top. The best way to hang pictures will vary from room to room but there is an art to hanging art. With groupings the largest frame is usually best in the center or at the center bottom. If you want to hang a group of pictures for a gallery wall hang the center of the grouping at 57 inches.

Pull up until the wire is taut and measure up to the top of the frame. First you have the challenge of placing objects on a wall in a pleasing way. Line up multiple frames from the center. Next turn the picture over and measure from the top of the frame to the point the picture will hang.

Maybe you have an empty wall cleared for decor or just a small area above your dresser for the family photo once you ve determined the area to frame measure out the surface area you ll be working with along with the width and height of your picture. Use a d ring on each side of a frame for secure picture hanging. Two pieces of string stretched taut between pushpins provide a guide for even spacing. Mark a spot on the wall the same distance from the top step and the bottom step and run the string between these points.

This technique is also useful for hanging pictures along a staircase.
