One of the most common repairs we complete out in the field is to seal leaky gutters.

To do this pour a small amount of water down the gutter and check the area that was repaired for any signs of water leaking from the crack. You can buy gutter caulking compound online. If water runs through to the downspout without a hitch you ve solved the problem. Water should not be able to penetrate through the putty after it has solidified.

However more often then not weeks or even days later the leak returns to the befuddlement of the home owner. If water is leaking where the gutter and downspout jointly connect repair the joint connection. Add any necessary fasteners or connectors. Once gutters are clean use your garden hose to fill them up with water and watch for leaks.
